Erdogan is urging the International Court of Justice in The Hague to hold Israeli authorities accountable for war crimes.
In a contentious move, he reinforced Turkey’s stance, calling Hamas a political group that has won past elections rather than a terrorist organization.
This is in contrast to the opinions of the United Kingdom, the United States, the European Union, and some Arab states, which consider Hamas to be a terrorist organization.
Erdogan accused Israel of “state terrorism” in a parliamentary address by bombing citizens forcibly displaced from their homes.
“Israel is a terror state,” he asserted, reiterating his unflinching support for Hamas members as resistance warriors protecting their homeland.
