Hamas, the Palestinian group responsible for a recent large attack on Israel, has angrily refuted claims of killing civilians, including children.
In a statement, Hamas emphatically denied the claims, calling them fake and sponsored by select Western media sources.
The statement chastised these sites for embracing the “Zionist narrative” without sufficient verification and accused them of spreading lies and slander about the Palestinian people and their struggle.
In what it named “Operation Al-Aqsa Flood,” Hamas underlined its determination to attacking Israeli military and security installations as legitimate targets.
The group claimed that it made measures to avoid civilian casualties, which was confirmed by video footage from the field and testimonials from settlers who acknowledged these efforts.
Furthermore, Hamas urged media outlets to retain neutrality and professionalism while rejecting the Israeli narrative.
Several reports during the recent fighting claimed that Hamas members beheaded Israeli young children
An Israeli army official, however, was unable to confirm these accusations and indicated that they lacked information or corroboration.
The battle started when Hamas launched Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, a surprise offensive involving several rocket launches and infiltrations into Israeli territory via land, sea, and air.
This was in response to the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem, as well as the rising aggression of Israeli settlers against Palestinians.
In response, Israel launched Operation Swords of Iron, which targeted Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
Combat has had serious implications, including the interruption of water and electricity supplies to Gaza, increasing the dreadful living circumstances in a region that has been under a punishing siege since 2007.
