As per PCB’s plan, India will play in Asia Cup 2023
Jay Shah, Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has endorsed the hybrid plan put forth by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Asia Cup 2023 will host four thrilling matches at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore and the rest at neutral venues, according to credible media sources. PCB’s hybrid model proposal for hosting the prestigious tournament was endorsed by various Asian teams, marking a significant milestone.
Under the innovative hybrid model presented by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Nepal have all officially confirmed their participation in the Asia Cup 2023. The united front shows the cricketing fraternity’s dedication to collaboration and excellence.
In their agreement to the proposed plan, the BCCI has imposed a condition. During the World Cup in 2023, the Indian board will seek a written commitment from Pakistan regarding a visit to India. In addition to maintaining bilateral engagements, the BCCI also strives to nurture healthy relations among cricket-playing countries.
As a result of the BCCI’s concerns, the PCB has developed two options under its hybrid model. First, India could play their matches at a neutral venue, ensuring a level playing field for all teams. The remaining matches will be played in Pakistan, providing local fans with a unique cricketing experience.
In addition, there is a second plan that proposes dividing the tournament into two distinct phases. There would be intense competition and riveting encounters in Pakistan during the initial phase, excluding India. In the second phase, Asia Cup 2023 will be hosted in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), ensuring a seamless transition and expanding its global reach.
The PCB’s innovative hybrid plan sets the stage for an exciting tournament with India’s participation in Asia Cup 2023. It enhances the overall spectacle by including matches at neutral venues and Gaddafi Stadium. Featuring the spirit of unity and collaboration within the sport, the cricketing world eagerly awaits the Asia Cup 2023, supported by Asian teams and the BCCI’s conditional agreement.
