PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari remarked, in an apparent allusion of PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif, that Pakistan’s Constitution, Democracy and elections delay” for return of one person.”
Nawaz fled for London in the middle of his seven-year sentence in the Al-Azizia corruption case in 2019 for “medical grounds” after the Lahore High Court granted him four weeks’ bail. He proclaimed criminal in the Al-Azizia and Avenfield graft cases for his continual absence from the hearings over the course of four years.
Nawaz Sharif is currently in Saudi Arabia and will return to the country on October 21 through Dubai.
Nawaz will address a public gathering at Minar-i-Pakistan upon his arrival, according to the PML-N.
“The 16-month tenure of the previous government shown that the country cannot be run from London,”, without naming Nawaz.
“It is imperative for everyone to be physically present among the people and be accountable to them. As far as this return is concerned, it is better late than never”, he said.
Bilawal Bhutto demanded that the Election Commission of Pakistan declare the election date as soon as possible.
“We hope all democratic parties will stand with the PPP if elections have to be detain for longer than 90 days,” Bilawal said. He added that the election delay was “not a show of respect for the vote, but disrespect for it.”
The PPP chairman also emphasized the need of everyone contributing to Pakistan’s prosperity and condemned “hate politics.” “People have lost interest in your politics,” he commented.
Bilawal went on to say that the PPP would launch a nationwide electoral campaign with the sole goal of lobbying for an election date and allowing voters to choose who to vote for.
