In the following days, the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports plans to distribute passports around the country. The backlog of fast-track passport applications has been efficiently handled upon the introduction of emergency measures.
Fast-track passport issue will resume tomorrow, and the backlog of urgent passports is expected to be cleared in two to three days.
In response to the emergency, the Interior Ministry moved quickly to deploy additional machinery and personnel to expedite the passport production process.
Furthermore, the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports got the necessary lamination papers for passport printing, allowing them to effectively address the existing backlog.
To address the lack of lamination papers, all required measures have been done. Additional equipment and personnel have been strategically deployed to guarantee that passport printing is completed as quickly as possible.
Pakistan once suffered a substantial backlog of 700,000 unprinted passports, owing to a lack of lamination paper.
However, recent initiatives have reduced the backlog and restored regularity to the passport issuance process.
