Peshawar – On Thursday, a suspected suicide attack near a tehsil compound in the Khyber district claimed the lives of four police personnel and injured several others.
Initially, one policeman was martyred, but as law enforcement personnel succumbed to critical injuries, the death toll increased.
According to reports, security personnel intercepted the militants who attempted to storm the state building that houses the Bara Police Station, other offices, and a cell of the Counter-terrorism Department (CTD).
Two members of the banned outfit blew themselves up near the Tehsil complex, officials said. A suicide bomber’s body was also found by police.
The explosion damaged the compound, but police and rescue teams arrived on the scene shortly afterward and treated all the injured.
Earlier this week, a suicide bomber from Tehreek-i-Jihad Pakistan targeted a vehicle of security forces in Peshawar.
In a statement, the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) offshoot claimed responsibility for the attack.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief Minister of Balochistan, and other officials condoled the deaths, saying the evil intentions of attackers would be crushed, and that the best medical care would be provided to those injured.’
