USAID Scholarship For Flood-Affected Students – Apply Now

Pakistan has been hit with devastating floods last year, causing financial difficulties for students in flood-affected areas. In order to address this issue, USAID has launched a merit-based scholarship program and a needs-based scholarship program. The initiative will enable flood-affected students to pursue their educational dreams despite their hardships.

The USAID scholarship program was established in 2004 to give hope to financially disadvantaged students. Flood-affected students are targeted this year, especially those who persevere in remaining enrolled at universities located within disaster-stricken areas.

In thirty universities, the scholarship program will provide funds for two semesters for flood-affected students. A major goal of the program is to close the financial gap that endangers these students’ educational futures.

USAID Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

In order to qualify for this remarkable opportunity, students must meet the following criteria:

1. Enrollment Status: Fall 2023 applicants must be enrolled in the second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, or seventh semester of a four- or five-year program.
2. Inclusive Disciplines: Students of all disciplines and subjects can apply to the program.
3. Flood-Affected Origins: Applicants must be from districts, sub-districts, or UC Tehsils that have been officially designated as flood-affected by the Government of Pakistan, PDMA, or District Administration.
4. Evidential Proof: Applicants must provide credible proof that their homes, livelihoods, and other pertinent areas have been affected by flooding. Images sourced from the internet will not be accepted.
5. Interview Process: Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by the Institutional Scholarship Award Committee of their respective universities to assess their financial needs
6. Gender Inclusivity: 50% of scholarships are reserved for female students, ensuring gender equality in higher education.

Scholarship Coverage

USAID scholarship programs offer comprehensive coverage for deserving students:

1. Tuition Fee: Two semesters of tuition are covered by the scholarship – Fall 2023 and Spring 2024.
2. Stipend: For both semesters, students will receive a stipend to cover boarding, lodging, transportation, and other academic costs.

Here’s How to Apply for USAID Scholarship

The USAID scholarship application process is straightforward:

1. Online Application: Applications must be submitted through the HEC Online Application System.
2. Documentation Submission: Students must submit relevant supporting documents with their applications to their universities’ student financial aid offices.
3. Completeness Matters: It is important that the application form be completely filled out and has all of the required information. Incomplete forms will be rejected.

Important Notes to Remember

• Merit-Based Awards: Scholarships will be awarded strictly based on merit. The Higher Education Commission (HEC) retains the right to rescind scholarship awards if any information provided by applicants is found to be unreliable during physical verification.
• Ineligible Categories: Students pursuing self-sustained, self-supported, self-financed, or evening programs with higher fee structures, as well as those enrolled in two-year bachelors, associate, or lateral degree programs, will not be eligible for the scholarship.
• Exclusivity Clause: Students benefiting from other scholarships or continuous grants are not eligible to apply.
• Scholarship Duration: The scholarship funding is applicable for two semesters only.
