The Navratri festival begins on the same day as the Pakistan-India World Cup 2023 match.
Due to a clash with the Navratri festival, the much-anticipated world cup match between India and Pakistan is likely to be delayed.
According to The Indian Express on Wednesday, the ODI World Cup 2023 match between Pakistan and India is scheduled for October 15 in Ahmedabad. However, the match may be postponed due to the date clashing with the start of the Navratri festival.
Navratri festival will begin on October 15 in Gujarat, the same day and place of the match.
“We’ve been told by security agencies that a high-profile game like India vs. Pakistan, for which thousands of travelling fans are expected to arrive in Ahmedabad, should be avoided because they’ll be stretched due to Navratri,” a top official from India’s cricket board, who did not want to be identified, told The Indian Express.
“It is understood that the board may inform members of the security concerns in the vicinity of Ahmedabad and finalize a new date for the match,” The Indian Express said.
The Indian Express also reported that BCCI secretary Jay Shah has called a meeting of all participating nations’ associations on July 27 to examine the situation.
Rescheduling Pak vs India match may cause issues for fans who have already booked flights and rooms in the city. According to the India Express, hotels in the city are ‘overbooked,’ and an increase in air rates is also expected.
