David Warner played a brilliant innings of 164 off 211 balls on day one of his farewell Test series against Pakistan in Perth, putting an end to any questions about his form in the longer format. As Warner blasted through his incredible innings, he climbed into Australia’s top five Test run-scorers, surpassing the likes of Matthew Hayden and Michael Clarke.
His outstanding performance also moved him over legendary names like Sir Viv Richards and Virender Sehwag on the all-time list.
David Warner is currently Australia’s fifth-highest Test run-scorer, behind only Steve Smith, Steve Waugh, Allan Border, and Ricky Ponting.

David Warner proved Pat Cummins’ decision to bat first on the Perth pitch with a quick fifty off 41 balls and a century partnership with Usman Khawaja. Despite his teammates falling after promising beginnings, Warner powered on to his 26th Test century, a feat accompanied by his trademark celebratory leap.
However, luck seemed on Warner’s side as he survived a couple of near calls after hitting the century mark, capitalizing on Pakistan’s lost chances to score 150 runs.
The visitors eventually found success by employing short-ball strategies, which resulted in Warner’s expulsion in the deep right before the day’s end. Pakistani Bowlers Amir Jamal got 2 wickets while Shaheen Aridi, Khurram Shahzad and Faheem Ashraf brought 1,1 wicket in their pocket.
Mitchell Marsh and Alex Carey guided Australia to a dominant 346-runs for the cost of five wickets by stumps.
