Despite an increasing interest in artificial intelligence (AI), IBM has possibly halted hiring for certain positions as a result of the impending impact of the technology. As a result of the November 2021 launch of ChatGPT, a viral chatbot created by OpenAI and supported by Microsoft Corp., there has been a significant increase in interest in chatbots.

The company has not yet responded to Reuters’ request for comment.
