Naseem Shah is out of Asia Cup 2023 after his injury in the Super Four match against India. Due to this unfortunate injury, Naseem Shah has withdrawn from the squad, making way for Zaman Khan. Even with this setback, Naseem Shah has a good chance of making the ODI World Cup 2023.
According to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Naseem Shah’s condition is under constant monitoring by the team’s medical panel. His recovery is being facilitated by all necessary precautions. Zaman Khan has already commenced training with the Pakistan team in order to contribute to their success in the Asia Cup 2023
Despite this setback, Pakistan is still hopeful Naseem Shah will participate in the 2023 ICC World Cup. Despite his injury, the team believes he will be able to make this global cricketing event.
Haris Rauf, another Pakistani fast bowler, also experienced discomfort during the scheduled day of the game against India. Despite not bowling on the reserve day of the match, the PCB reports that he is recovering well. Ahead of the World Cup, team doctor Sohail Saleem stressed providing the best medical care to these two fast bowlers.
It significantly affected Pakistan’s chances of reaching the Asia Cup final after Pakistan lost to India by 228 runs. Neither Rauf nor Naseem batted during Pakistan’s chase against India. Their next challenge is to beat Sri Lanka in the final Super Four game. If the match is abandoned due to weather, Sri Lanka will advance to the final against India.
After Rauf and Naseem were injured, Zaman Khan and Shahnawaz Dahani were already called up as replacements. The PCB clarified that they were not ruled out of participating, but were being monitored to ensure their fitness.
